For its tenth anniversary, Open House Buenos Aires commissioned a large-scale publication to document a decade of opening the city’s architecture to the public. Over the years, the festival has invited residents to access hundreds of buildings typically closed to visitors, constructing a collective urban experience rooted in transparency, heritage, and civic engagement. The anniversary book consolidates this accumulated knowledge into a structured editorial archive.
Designed by Diego Pinilla Amaya and published by Bisman Ediciones, the 600-page volume documents 340 buildings while functioning as both record and navigational system. The cover operates as an informational surface, presenting an alphabetical listing of buildings structured through a ten-color palette marking the festival’s decade. Inside, monospaced typography organizes dense datasets with systematic clarity, particularly across six detailed indexes that enable precise cross-referencing. Color sequencing, cartographic spreads, and architectural photography establish rhythm between data and documentation, allowing scale and complexity to remain legible.
The result is a publication that translates an urban festival into a rigorous editorial system, using typographic structure, chromatic coding, and navigational logic to reflect the collective and cumulative nature of Open House Buenos Aires while constructing a durable archival framework for its first ten years.
