The Gender Equality Index UK (GEIUK) is the first comprehensive tool in the UK to measure, map, and monitor gender inequalities at the local authority level. Pentagram was asked to create an identity that communicates complex data with clarity, confidence and warmth — engaging audiences well beyond research institutions.

The visual system celebrates diversity through a patchwork of tonally rich, flexible color blocks inspired by indexing and data graphics. Motion plays a central role, connecting the work to infographics as a language of insight while reflecting the tool’s core purpose: revealing structured information in ways that are engaging and accessible.

By humanizing data and opening space for understanding, the identity supports GEIUK’s ambition to inform policy, empower advocacy and stimulate meaningful public debate on equality across the UK.
